Before Buying a 5-in-1 USB-C Hub, Audit the Laptop Port

A five-port hub cannot provide a feature that the host computer's USB-C port does not expose. Before choosing the Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), identify the exact laptop model and the capability of the port you plan to use.

Map each required connection

The current listing identifies one HDMI port, one USB-C data port, two USB-A data ports and one USB-C Power Delivery input. Write down the monitor, keyboard, storage device and charger you expect to connect. One HDMI output does not create two independent displays, and the hub's USB-C data port is not described as an additional video output.

Verify video at the host

The laptop's selected USB-C port must support video output for HDMI to work through the hub. A USB-C-shaped connector alone does not prove that capability. Consult the computer manufacturer's documentation for that port. The listing states up to 4K at 30Hz with compatible equipment; confirm that resolution and refresh rate meet the intended work rather than assuming all 4K uses are equivalent.

Keep charging input and host delivery separate

The PD input accepts up to 100W, while the listing states up to 85W pass-through to the host. A compatible charger is not included. Account for the hub's use of power and the laptop's requirements. Do not describe 100W input as 100W arriving at the computer.

Data performance also depends on connected drives and the host. The USB data ports list up to 5Gbps, which is a port ceiling rather than a guaranteed copy speed for every file or device.

Make a complete shopping list

The standard purchase includes the hub and welcome guide. Add the separate charger, HDMI cable or peripheral cables actually required, then confirm supplier dispatch for the delivery destination. A simple port audit turns “five-in-one” into five known connections and exposes missing equipment before checkout.
