A short high-performance cable can be correct on a compact desk and frustrating in a wider layout. The Anker Prime Thunderbolt 5 Cable currently has two black variants: 1.7 feet and 3.3 feet. Both are listed for Thunderbolt 5 with up to 80Gbps data and 240W charging in supported systems.
Measure the path, not the gap
Use a flexible cord to follow the route from one port to the other. Include bends around a laptop stand, monitor arm or docking station, and leave enough slack to connect without pulling sideways on either port. Measuring only the straight-line gap can produce a cable that technically reaches but places constant stress on a connector.
The 1.7-foot option suits tightly grouped devices; the 3.3-foot option gives more routing freedom. Longer is not automatically better if excess cable blocks ventilation or clutters a mobile kit. Record the selected length and SKU so a later reorder does not rely on the common product name alone.
Check the entire connection standard
A cable's maximum rating does not upgrade the computer, dock, storage device or display. Confirm that both endpoints support the mode you intend to use. An 80Gbps label does not guarantee an 80Gbps file transfer from storage that cannot supply that rate, and a 240W cable does not make a lower-power charger deliver 240W.
For a display setup, check the computer, dock, monitor, operating system and adapter chain. The maker's dual-display claims apply to compatible configurations; they should not be transferred to every USB-C port.
Confirm what is included and how it will ship
The listing identifies one selected cable, a welcome guide and manufacturer support terms. Confirm the exact length variant at checkout and current supplier fulfillment if timing matters. Buy the cable for a documented route and compatible endpoints, not solely for the highest numbers printed in the title.
